about

To be nonreligious in a secular country often comes with certain struggles when navigating one’s identity. The need to fit in and find community can be difficult when your beliefs are not the popular opinion. As someone who is nonreligious, I have been struggling to answer the question of who I am in terms of religion and spirituality all my life.

The Nones is a soundscape that consists of instrumental elements and audio clips of recorded interviews conducted with individuals who identify as nonreligious. This soundscape aims to help shed more light on what it means to be nonreligious, and how one who is nonreligious navigates their identity through personal accounts from individuals I feel don’t often have their story told. This soundscape is part of my larger senior project, which will show in March 2017.
